An ancient province corresponding generally with the Shikarpur taluk of Shimoga District in Mysore. It was a ' seventy ' province, and its capital was at Bandanikke, or Bandalikke, also called Bandhavapura, now deserted and in ruins. According to an old inscription, Nagarakhanda was at one time ruled by ' the wise Chandra Gupta.'
