Noted Bollywood lyricist Naqsh Lyallpuri formed a meaningful and melodious partnership with renowned composer Khayyam in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Lyallpuri was especially proficient in writing tender love poems. Some of his more popular songs were `Yeh mulakat ik bahana hai' from `Khandaan', `Pyar ka dard hai meetha meetha pyaara pyaara' and `Na jaane kya hua jo tune chhoo liya, both from the film `Dard'.

Lyallpuri's real name was Jaswant Rai, but he took on the pen name of his hometown, Lyallpur (now Faislabad in Pakistan) as was customary among 1950s' songwriters.
