Head-quarters of the Golgonda taluk and of the Narasapatnam subdivision, Vizagapatam District, Madras, situated in 17°4oN. and 82° 37' E., 8 miles from the foot of the hills in the midst of a fertile plain. Population (1901). 10,589. It is a centre of trade with the hills to the north.
