A sub•caste of Tantis in Bengal; a eb ss of fishermen in Eastern Bengal who enolose portions of newly formed char lands at high tide by small weirs made of reed grass (sirki), and catch the fish when the water recedes. They do not use nets. P:ittars also sell fish purchased from Jeliyas and other fishing castes.
