World’s second-largest banyan tree

2018: injected with chemical to kill termites

The World’s second-largest banyan tree in 2018
From: April 16, 2018: The Times of India

The world’s second-largest banyan tree in Pillalamarri of Mahabubnagar district in Telangana has been put on ‘saline drip’ for rejuvenation. The 700-year-old ficus tree is being injected with a diluted chemical to kill termites. Officials have put a few hundred bottles of the diluted chemical at every two metres of the giant tree, whose parts were crumbling, due to which it was closed to visitors from December 2017
