Public Health Foundation of India no.2 in world

New Delhi: Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) has been ranked second top public health institution globally, ahead of Harvard’s T H Chan School of Public Health, Swiss School of Public Health and Bloomberg School of Public Health in Johns Hopkins. On top is London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
The first pilot of Public Health Academic Ranking (PHAR), published by the International Journal of Public Health on Monday, stated that PHFI ranks exceptionally well on the criterion of “quality”.
The project was aimed at creating a model for ranking of public health institutions. On PHFI, the report stated, “It is interesting to note that this school ranks exceptionally well not because of the ‘productivity’ criterion (as might have been felt in view of the network bringing together numerous schools in the same country) but thanks to the ‘quality’ criterion.”
PHAR has been developed utilising the InCites Benchmarking and Analytics software and Web of Science Core Collection database. Between Aug and Sept 2022, bibliometric data was gathered for 26 Public Health schools spanning all continents. It incorporated 11 research indicators/ scores, encompassing four criteria (productivity, quality, accessibility for readers, international collaboration), for the period 2017–2021.
