Samthar Town
Capital of the State of the same name in Cen- tral India, situated in 25 50' N. and 78 55' E., about 8 miles from the Moth station on the Great Indian Peninsula Railway. Population (1901), 8,286. The town, which is often called Shamshergarh, was built in the seventeenth century, and was subsequently reconstructed by Chhatar Singh. It contains the Raja's palace, a jail, a post office, and a hospital.
