Sanand Town

Head-quarters of the taluka of the same name in Ahmadabad District, Bombay, situated in 23 N. and 72 23' E , on the Bombay, Baroda, and Central India Railway, 18 miles from Ahmadabad. Population (1901), 6,783. It was formerly one of the capitals of the house of Koth. The municipality, established in 1885, had an average income during the decade ending 1901 of about Rs. 8,000. The income in 1903-4 amounted to Rs. 8,500. The town contains three schools, two for boys and one for girls, attended respectively by 310 and 128 pupils, and including an English middle school with 25 pupils.
