Shahada Town
Head-quarters of the taluka of the same name in West Khandesh District, Bombay, situated in 21 33' N. and 74 28' E., 48 miles north-west of Dhulia. Together with Kukdel, it contained in 1901 a population of 5,399. A municipality was con- stituted in 1869. The income during the ten years ending 1901 averaged Rs. 7,000. In 1903-4 the income was Rs. 8,500. The town contains three cotton-ginning factories, a dispensary, and four schools, with 262 pupils, of which one, with 21 pupils, is for girls.
