Shruti Haasan, daughter of popular actor Kamal Haasan is known for her beauty and attitude. The actress works in Bollywood and has done many films in the South. The actress is in the news for her relationship with cricketer Suresh Raina. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Shruti and Raina are in a mature relationship, but they are trying to keep it private. Mirror was the first to bring you the news of their special rapport (May 15, 2013) after Shruti was spotted cheering for his team, the Chennai Super Kings at the IPL matches. Before meeting Raina, the actress was in a live-in relationship with South actor Siddharth. The couple parted ways in 2011, but their relation grabbed eyeballs. In an interview with TOI, Shruti on being asked about her love life said, "There is no time for romance. I don't have time as I am busy working and have a busy schedule." "I don't see love in my life at all. It's not my priority from any angle. Right now, my focus is only work. There is no definition of right man in my life."
Shruti Haasan again grabbed headlines when she was allegedly linked to Rajinikanth's son-in-law Dhanush. Both of them shared screen space for Kolaveri Di and there were reports that Dhanush was allegedly having an affair with Shruti Haasan. Aishwarya Dhanush, daughter of Rajinikanth was not happy about the reports of their secret affair. The reports further stated that Rajinikanth was also disappointed with these rumours. In an interview to Filmfare, Shruti Haasan said, "I know there are 10,000 rumors. For me, it’s a rare connect with someone. Dhanush is an important friend because when nobody thought I could play the part in 3, he stood by me and said I could do it. For anyone in any job, it’s important that people have faith in you. I owe him so much. Also we get along well. We have so much to talk about. He is also a comprehensive artiste. But I’m not going around justifying to people. I’m not going to tell people to put a microchip in my bum and follow me, so that they can know the truth. He is my best friend in the business. He has always helped me artistically. I won’t throw that in trash just because people are talking nonsense about us. I’ve never bothered much about what people say."
Another controversy got Shruti Haasan into the news! Shruti was quite upset over her leaked pictures from the song 'Dimple Pimple' in Ram Charan-starrer Yevadu, which went going viral all over the web. According to reports, the actress allegedly lodged a police complaint to find out who leaked the unauthorised pictures from Yevadu. Reportedly, those pictures were taken while filming the song and it became one of the most searched pictures on the Internet.
Shruti Haasan went bold as she played a prostitute in D-Day. The actress got into the news when for the poster of D Day (Tamil version). The poster showed Shruti in an inappropriate manner. Reportedly, the poster of Arjun Rampal and Shruti Haasan from the film was used to promote the Tamil film as a porn film. The actress also performed some intimate scenes for the film.
The actress went under the knife and did a nose job. According to her interview in TOI, the actress said, "Yes, I got a corrective surgery done and there is nothing to hide. It's not like Pamela Anderson's b**b job. I suffered from a deviated septum, and this was causing severe problems for me. I couldn't breathe very well and had to breathe through my mouth most often. I feel at ease after getting this surgery done," says the actress. So, where did she get the surgery done? "I went to the US and got it done because this is a tricky surgery. If it is not done right, it could affect my voice and that's something I cannot risk."
Shruti Haasan grabbed attention after a spot boy was arrested for stalking the actress. The accused claimed that he had gone to Haasan's residence to seek a job for his brother, but before he could say anything, the actor got scared and banged the door the police said. According to a report in PTI, the 27-year-old actress was confronted by Trimukhe, who allegedly tried to barge into the apartment. He questioned the actor as to why she was not recognising him. "The accused had even put his hand on the shoulder of the actress. The actor, although rattled, managed to push the man away and locked the door," a police officer had said.
Actress Shruti Haasan was in May 2014 linked to cricketer Suresh Raina. According to reports, Kamal Haasan's elder daughter Shruti's is dating Suresh for sometime and both are in a serious relationship. When The Times of India contacted Shruti's spokesperson, she immediately denied the reports and claimed that they were rumours. Suresh Raina also tweeted saying, "Too many media reports which no one even tries to confirm. This is to clear once & for all. I'm not dating ANYONE."
2014: ‘You and I are Iyengar… nobody will marry either of us’
Kamal Haasan trolled over Shruti’s ‘I’m Iyengar’ video, July 2, 2018: The Times of India
Makkal Needhi Maiam founder-president Kamal Haasan was criticised for his “shallow understanding” of caste polity after a 2014 video of his daughter, Shruti Haasan, declaring her ‘Iyengar’ status resurfaced online.
In a question-answer session with his Twitter fans on June 29, Haasan responded to a query, tweeting, “I refused to fill in the caste&religion column in both my daughters’ school admission certificate. That’s the only way,it will pass on to the next generation. Every individual shld start contributing fr progress. Kerala started implementing the same. Those who do shld be celebrated. (sic)”
On Saturday, Twitterverse dug out a September 2014 interview of Shruti Haasan on the chat show ‘Look who’s talking with Niranjan’. To a question by the host Niranjan Iyengar — on what seems like a long-running gag between the two — as to why she refers to him as her “Aambalaiyaan”, Shruti says, “It is because you’re Iyengar and I am Iyengar and we are both creative. And there’s a very high chance that nobody will marry either of us.”
Twitterati accused Haasan of double standards and pointed to Shruti’s video to further their cause. D Ravikumar, general secretary, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, said that the tweet exposed Kamal’s understanding of caste. “(The tweet) shows that his understanding of caste system is shallow which is why he suggests such remedies. My humble request for Kamal would be to read Ambedkar’s Annihilation of Caste,” Ravikumar said.
Political observer ‘Tharasu’ Shyam pointed out to Haasan’s “Thevar Magan” (1992) as an example of the actor promoting caste identity via his films. Other Twitter users said Kamal had not discontinued the practice of adding caste names to his films, pointing out to his under-production venture ‘Sabash Naidu’ as an example.
