Thakurdwara Town

Head-quarters of the tahsil of the same name in Moradabad District, United Provinces, situated in 29° 12' N. and 78° 52' E., 27 miles north of Moradabad city. Population (1901), 6,111. The town was -founded in the reign of Muhammad .Shah (1719-48), and was plundered by the Pindari, Amir Khan, in 1805. It contains a iahsilt, a police station, a dispensary, and a branch of the American Methodist Mission. It is administered under Act XX- of 1856, with an income of about Rs. 1,300. The tahslll school has 83 pupils.
