Box office collections and records

2016 Sultan earned Rs 37-38 crore on its opening day. This was marginally lower than Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’s record partly because the film was released on a Wednesday (6 July), which was when Eid ul Fitr was supposed to be celebrated. Eid got shifted to the next day (Thurs 7 July) and Sultan was, therefore, released on a working day. Despite that the film collected massive opening day earnings.
