The bikini controversy
Hisham Bin Mustafa wrote in 2013:
Ramp model Jannatul Ferdous Peya came into lime light with a blast after few Facebook pages posted her pictures in bikini taken during an international beauty contest.
Peya represented Bangladesh in the 'Top Model of the Year 2013' among 47 international contestants held in Egypt.
In certain photos model Peya was seen wearing bikini and swim suits. These pictures became viral and people are seen to criticize it firmly.
Most of the comments by people show that they took the matter negatively as she's representing a Muslim country to the world. Wearing something decent during the photo shoot would have created a positive image towards her, many claimed.
Few take it as a positive sign as Bangladeshi models are competing with the international models and they observe costumes are model's own choice. If the model is 'ok' with bikini then why not?
In terms of Bangladesh, this is a very big move for Peya as no other local model had ever exposed such photos earlier.
