The winners
July 18, 2026: Press Information Bureau
The winners of the 72nd National Film Awards for the year 2024 were announced today. The awards recognise the best achievements in Indian cinema across feature films, non-feature films and writings on cinema.
Article 370 won the Best Feature Film award, while Bhangaar was named Best Non-Feature Film and Ram-Nami received the Best Documentary award.
Yami Gautam won the Best Actress in a Leading Role award for Article 370, while Mammootty (Bramayugam) and Kartik Aaryan (Chandu Champion) shared the Best Actor in a Leading Role award.
Randeep Hooda won the Best Debut Director award for Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, while blockbuster films like Kalki 2898 AD, Amaran, Pushpa: The Rule Part-02, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Stree 2, also bagged major honours, reflecting the diversity and excellence of Indian cinema.
The awards were announced by Shri Jayaraj, Chairperson of the Feature Film Jury, Shri Aseem Sinha, Chairperson of the Non-Feature Film Jury, Shri A. Chandrasekhar, Chairperson of the Best Writing on Cinema Jury in the presence of Dr. Ajay Nagabhushan M.N., Joint Secretary (Films) and Shri Dhirendra Ojha, Principal Director General, Press Information Bureau (PIB).
