Miss India - Shailini Bhavnath Dholakia, semi finalist at Miss Universe, 1974
According to one source, in 1974 Kiran Dholakia was FEMINA's DELEGATE to Miss World 1974. The source seems to be confusing her with Shailini Dholakia.
Radha Bartake
Radha Bartake represented India at the International Teen Princess contest held on July 27 1974 held in Caracas, Venezuela. This was the only time when an Indian won the top crown at this contest, having missed the top spot by a hair's breadth in 1967. The website [1], which is the only available compilation of the International Teen Princess contest, notes '1 India Radha Bartake (not Vani Gujral).’ That Radha Bartake won the crown in 1974 is thus established. However, it is interesting that the name Vani Gujral has crept up on an international website as having won the crown. A Filipino website [www.veestarz.com veestarz]also says that Vani Gujral won the crown, beating their delegate.
Radha Bartake became a model and did a guest role in Bhuierantlo Munis (English: Cave Man), which was the first Konkanicolour filmand released in 1977. Her name figures a lot in the Goan music scene. She seems to have been from Goa and at some stage she took to pop music. No photgraphs are available online.
