There doesnt seem to have been a contest. Eve's Weekly did not hold the contest and Femina had not yet stepped into the field.

Miss India 1964: Meher Mistry
Eve's Weekly did not hold a contest, but Femina did, making its debut.

Miss India 1964: After the pageant, Meher Mistry (now known as Meher Castelino) took up writing for reputed magazines. She has authored two books, Manstyle and Fashion Kaleidoscope.. Today, she has achieved international recognition as a fashion critic and has been honored with the 'Hall of Fame Fashion Writer Award' by Kingfisher.
Meher was educated at the elite Lawrence School, Lovedale in the Nilgiris.
